Homework
Homework is the subject of regular review between staff, governors and parents.
One of the main aims of a primary school is to help the children develop a love and need for learning and to lay sound foundations for their entry into a secondary school. Without a feeling of enjoyment in the learning process, education will not work. Therefore, children in our school are encouraged to be very positive about their homework. It is recognised that work at home is of great value when it has purpose and clear links to schoolwork and children’s targets. Reading at home is vital and is therefore encouraged, with parental involvement a key aspect. Topic work can also be researched from home and this is encouraged as part of the learning process. Where a teacher feels that there is a particular need for a child to carry out work at home or to finish work started in class, this can also be set as homework. Each child has a home/school communication book, detailing any work that has been set to ensure clear understanding and liaison between child, school and parents.
